 About Orin

Orin was born on 3th of April 2023 in Poland at the Ad Miraculum kennel of breeder Ula Ptaszkowska, and is co-owned with breeder Iva Urianková from the Czech Republic.

For me, Orin is truly a dream come true. Ever since I first saw the white male Parisade Maravilhaso — sire of my very first Portuguese Water Dog, Amálka Ambra z Kasétek — I dreamed of one day owning a white Portuguese Water Dog myself. When Iva later posted that she was searching for a co-owner for a white puppy, I immediately contacted her. Somehow, by what still feels like a small miracle, she agreed — and so Orin made the journey to join our family in Wigan.

From the beginning, I knew his colour would be considered unusual by many judges in the UK show scene, but as we say in Czech: “Who’s afraid must not go into the forest.” And so began our incredible adventure together.

Orin is a wonderfully affectionate and easy-going dog. Even at three years old, he is still very much a giant puppy at heart. His favourite place in the world is as physically close to his humans as possible — ideally with his head resting on your chest, around your shoulders, or preferably his entire body somehow squeezed into your lap before rolling onto his back completely satisfied with himself. Privacy in our household simply does not exist anymore, including bathroom visits, as Orin firmly believes he should be involved in every family activity.

Unlike Jonatan, Orin is not particularly vocal and rarely barks, something I appreciate greatly. He gets along well with other dogs, although becoming a successful stud dog has certainly increased his confidence around unfamiliar males, and occasionally I do have to remind him to remain gentlemanly.

He approaches every activity with enthusiasm and willingness, which makes him especially popular with my children, who constantly invent new games involving him. Most of the time he participates happily — including occasionally appearing in the kitchen dressed as Batman. The only moment I truly had to intervene was when the children decided they wanted to repaint him as a zebra shortly before a dog show. Thankfully, Orin remained a dog rather than becoming modern art!

As a stud dog, Orin has already proven himself exceptionally well. By 2026 he had already sired two litters, including his very first litter of 12 puppies. He is reliable, confident, and eager without being difficult, and he consistently produces lovely puppies with excellent temperaments.

In terms of structure, Orin is a beautifully built larger-framed male with strong bone and powerful, flowing movement. If I could change one thing, I would wish for slightly stronger pigmentation, though nature ultimately makes those decisions for us.

Because Orin is curly coated, preparing him for shows has been a learning process for me, and I continue to refine his grooming and presentation over time. Ironically, this has turned him into the only dog I own who genuinely adores the grooming salon. After endless hours of brushing to maintain his coat in top show condition, I accidentally convinced him the salon is the most exciting place in the world. Now, whenever I open the salon door, he launches himself onto the grooming table with impressive determination and refuses to leave. Thanks to his exceptionally calm temperament, he is even capable of falling asleep during grooming sessions.

At home, Orin is peaceful and non-confrontational. He and Jonatan happily eat side by side, drink from the same bowl, and coexist beautifully. The only thing Orin does not particularly appreciate are Jonatan’s outdoor games, especially Jonatan’s strange belief that catching other dogs by their back legs while running is highly entertaining.

Both of our males also handle living alongside females in season with remarkable calmness and stability, something I value enormously in a household environment.

Above all, Orin is a dog we deeply enjoy living with every single day. He brought something very special into my life and breeding programme, and he will always remain an extraordinary dog to me.
